Glider pilots can earn their solo status as young as age 14, and their full glider private pilot rating at age 16. To do this requires dedication, and maturity at a level significantly above that of their peers. These are exceptional youngsters and we are proud to serve as role models in their development.
Truckee-Tahoe Soaring Association provides youngsters aged 13-18 with glider flight instruction. Many of our “Line Kids” have gone on to serve in both military and civilian aviation.
Inaugural Youth Aviation Camp - 2016
Four Truckee-area youngsters, aged 14 through 18, participated in the inaugural Youth Aviation Camp August 22-25 at the Truckee Tahoe Soaring Association (TTSA) glider port. The goal of the Camp was to acquaint the group with the many potential careers in aviation, from piloting, to mechanical repairs, to aviation management, to military flying.
