This Academy was created for you! For you new to the sport, who after getting your certificate are unsure how to become a better pilot; and for you long-time licensed glider pilots, who for the countless reasons of life never had the time or the audacity to leave the home field.
Come with us. We will show you how fantastic and exhilarating flying cross country is; it will fill your eyes with new territory and the clouds and the lakes. We will show you how it is done, and how it is actually possible that you can do it yourself and become an accomplished cross country pilot.
And you will never be the same. Apply below, and we will contact you with more information.
This is a club with the goal of helping you (a glider pilot mentee) advance in cross country flying. We will provide a dual high-performance sailplane with mentoring from experienced cross country pilots to introduce you to flying in the Sierra and Nevada high desert, and more broadly to cross-country flight. If you are a licensed glider pilot aspiring to become proficient in the art of cross-country, this is the program for you.
TASMA will conduct its main activity in the Truckee Airport in the summer season, and in a different location (TBD) in the winter season. We currently have a Duo Discus T (tail number XC) and the mentoring of Sergio Colacevich and Mike Mayo.
This is you! Members are any licensed glider pilots wishing to become proficient in cross country flying who pay the fees and dues of the program.
