Learn To Soar
Soar Truckee offers professional flight instruction, tow-plane operations, and a comprehensive soaring training program.
An introductory lesson gives you the opportunity to take the controls of a glider under the guidance of a Certified Flight Instructor while learning about glider flying, flight training, and the sport of soaring.
Beginner Training
You can fly by yourself, "solo", as young as 14 years of age, but you can begin training as young as 12.
Typically, 30 to 50 glider flights, and some ground instruction are required to solo.
With frequent lessons and dedication, you could solo in one to two months.

Introductory Lesson
It's a scenic flight adventure with a twist.
You will fly with a Certified Flight Instructor who will do the take-off, tow and landing.
After demonstrating some flight maneuvers, you will get to fly the glider!
After the flight, your instructor will record your flight in your (new) log book.
Advanced Training
Already a private pilot with a glider rating?
Come get your Commercial glider rating or Certified Flight Instructor Rating with us.

Gliders are extremely efficient flying machines without engines. They are elegant, simple, and sleek and very quiet, the only noises being the variometer audio, occasional radio chatter, and the gentle whoosh of the wind.
